College Admissions Simplified
College Admissions Simplified
Many people ask me why my college admissions guidance is different from other admissions counselors. Aside from the experience of doing this for more than 30 years, I follow a rigorous process that takes students through all the steps required to make a good decision about college.
There is more on the line here than just getting into the school you want. When you think through the experience you’re signing up for over the next 4 years, the cost of transferring to a different school is what we’re trying to avoid.
Below is how we work the magic that has enabled my process to successfully support hundreds of students getting into college in the past 30 years.

I Simplify The Process For Students By
- Empowering them to take control of the decisions they must make. This helps them understand how important these decisions are.
- Managing expectations of both students and parents.
- Teaching parents how and when to step back in as needed.
In My Well-organized Process, I Do The Following With My Students
- I formulate an in-depth analysis of the student’s academic record, including grades and rigor of curriculum.
- I assess testing options, SAT or ACT, for each student and recommend a testing schedule leaving time for test prep, if necessary.
- I develop an Application Plan that includes: a timeline for the applications, due dates for essay drafts, and ample time for feedback from me.
- I return all essay submissions with edits, comments, and suggestions so nothing is overlooked or missed from the requirements.
- I teach students how to research colleges using a simplified method and a proprietary portal so they get the most up-to-date information and don’t waste countless hours online reading old facts or outdated information.
- I guide students through the college selection process so they make informed decisions about the best schools for their academic, social and personal interests that also align with their budget.
- I provide regular feedback to students and parents, so no one is ever out of the loop or lost with where we are in the process. Any red flags or due dates are highlighted so you know what needs to be done next.
- This process relieves anxiety for everyone because you know all of your bases are covered.
- Finally, there is an open line of communication. Parents and students play a role in college admissions and we work together to accomplish our goals.
The next question parents ask me is
Can I do this on my own? I went to college, how hard can it be?
To that I say, could you, sure. Should you, I think not.
Here’s why
College is not the same as it was 20 years ago. Everything from testing, to requirements, to new technology like AI have impacted the process. I know what is going on and I give all of my students and their families expert guidance from the very beginning.
I also work with students throughout the high school process to ensure smart decisions are made early and correctly.
And we don’t stop with the admission paperwork. I stay with you through graduation so the advice you need on things like handling waitlists and deferrals are managed in your child’s best interest.
I offer your student an ear to relieve the stress of this process while cutting through the noise of too much advice from those who know little more about college planning than you do.
Let me help you find and apply to the colleges that are the right fit and match for your student.
