Student Services
Why we are important to the process:
The following are some of the things we can do for your family. College is a big investment and it is important that proper planning and choices are made in order to make a wise decision. Students who find themselves at the wrong college often transfer or don't do as well academically as might otherwise be the case. This is a costly mistake for the family to make. Our expertise helps avoid these missteps.
Individual Assessment:
We carefully listen to you and your student to both fully understand what s/he is looking for in a college and what you want for your student.
Evaluation of Student Records:
We recalculate the student's GPA, review all testing, help with course selection, and give advice about extracurricular activities. It is important, therefore, that we are provided with all pertinent records as early in the process as possible.
The College List Development:
We visit colleges nationwide in order to provide you with a list of colleges that represent the best fit for your student as well as which meet the criteria s/he has indicated are important. If we have not personally visited a college recently, we have an extensive network of colleagues to whom we can turn for information. The final list represents extensive research done on behalf of your student.
Managing the Timeline:
We provide you with deadlines that we consider carefully with an eye to having the student applications completed in a less stressful manner than is usually the case. In addition, structure is put to the process for the family as we guide you to its successful completion.
Application Review:
We will review student applications and provide advice on proper completion of them. We will also help the student decide who to ask for recommendations, how to prepare for an interview, what to include on the résumé and what constitutes a good college essay.
College Selection:
We will help you decide among the choices you have once the decisions are in. Our advice will take into account student match as well as financial goals of the family.
Financial Aid Advice:
We will provide you with a list of financial aid resources and discuss, in broad terms, your options for need-based and merit aid.
Hourly Consultations and Blocks of Hours:
We allow you to direct us in the particular needs of your family.
